Substrates made from coir decompose naturally over time, improving the condition of the soil. This characteristic lessens the negative effects that synthetic materials have on the environment.
Coir absorbs and holds water well, making it an excellent water-retention material. In addition, it gives plant roots adequate aeration, establishing the ideal balance for plant health and growth.
Since coir usually has a pH of neutral, it can be used with a wide variety of plants. It is readily adaptable to satisfy particular pH needs by modifying the mixture with additional ingredients.
Potassium and other natural nutrients are found in coir. Coir contributes to overall plant health by giving plants a slight nutritional boost, even though it is not a full fertilizer.
Because of its inherent antifungal qualities, coir resists diseases that are spread through the soil. Because of this feature, coir is a desirable option for plant cultivation.
Coir is a naturally occurring fiber that is harvested from the coconut husk, making it a sustainable and replenishable resource. Using coir substrates lessens reliance on non-renewable resources and promotes environmentally friendly practices.
